Shanghai has built and operated over 800 kilometers of tunnels, mainly including subway tunnels, urban highway tunnels, and power tunnels. As the lifelines of city transportation and energy supply, their healthy operation is crucial for the normal functioning of the city. Notably, most of these tunnels are constructed by assembling segments or pipe sections; any issue with a segment or section can affect the operation of the tunnel in that section, leading to congestion or even paralysis. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct comprehensive inspections and safety alerts for potential hazards such as surface damage (uneven settlement, cracking, water seepage) and hidden area issues (such as reduced stiffness and voids behind). Additionally, due to the randomness and concealment of these diseases' occurrence and development, selecting and making decisions on tunnel inspection and safety alert targets are challenging. It is required to develop concealed face testing technology, introduce information technology, and enhance the traceability of information. This project focuses on the technical difficulties of tunnel structure safety early warning. Through the joint research and development of industry, academia, and research institutions, after 10 years, key technologies such as automatic acquisition and information management of tunnel daily inspection data, mobile rapid non-destructive testing and diagnosis of tunnel safety and reliability, distributed monitoring system for tunnel operation, and early warning platform have been conquered. This has formed key technologies and equipment to ensure the early warning of urban tunnel structural safety. The main content and technical economic indicators are as follows: (1) Developed a mobile electronic inspection system for tunnels based on handheld PDAs, established daily inspection software and backend management platforms based on PDAs, solving the difficulties of daily mobile inspections and data information management in tunnels. It can dynamically read and collect sensor data at vehicle speeds below 20km/h and transmit it to the management terminal. This realizes the electronic and mobileization of inspection work, greatly improving efficiency. (2) Developed a full-section non-destructive testing vehicle for tunnels. Research and developed a non-contact tunnel detection air coupling antenna technology, proposed radar electromagnetic wave data high-precision imaging and cavity intelligent recognition technology. Through hardware and software integration, mobile detection of cavities in the structure and its post-grouting layer behind the wall was achieved, solving the difficult problem of detecting hidden surfaces in tunnels. Its technical indicators are superior to those of similar products at home and abroad, achieving safe detection under the condition of tunnel operation without interruption. (3) Developed a coupled wave numberization fluctuation simulation method for rail-tunnel-soil, studied the evolution law of structural fluctuations in shielded tunnels, proposed a performance analysis method for the service area of subway tunnel segments, and realized the lightweight simulation of tunnel structure fluctuations, solving the difficult problem of rapid evaluation of regional performance of tunnels. (4) Proposed an underground engineering deformation data processing method based on point cloud rule-based grid three-dimensional laser scanning. Formed the layout of measurement stations for laser scanning measurement technology, automatic processing of point clouds, The tunnel apparent performance rapid acquisition and real-scene display technology system has solved the difficulties in quickly obtaining information such as transverse convergence, longitudinal deformation of tunnel segments, and misalignment values. The measurement efficiency reaches 500m/h, and the error rate of the ellipse deformation's major and minor axes is <2‰. (5) A complete set of tunnel full-automatic safety three-dimensional monitoring software and mobile publishing platform has been developed. This system solves the comprehensive management difficulties of multi-data fusion, soft soil tunnel safety early warning, and control. It features real-time data collection, wireless transmission of data, remote control of terminals, cloud data processing, and real-time early warning, achieving all-weather real-time early warning of the tunnel structure's health status. The achievements have been applied in Shanghai Metro Lines 6, 9, 10, 12, and 13, as well as the Shanghai Yangtze River Tunnel, Changjiang West Road Tunnel, and Yingbin Third Road Tunnel. They have also been used in the Shanghai Electric Power Expo Tunnel, Tibet Road Tunnel, Yanggao Road Tunnel, The successful application of projects such as the Fuzhou Road River Crossing Tunnel and the Yangshupu Power Plant River Crossing Tunnel has led to the development of equipment used in 50 tunnel sections. Over the past three years, the promotion of these achievements has generated an economic benefit of 530 million yuan, with a direct economic benefit of 360 million yuan. A total of 19 patents have been obtained or applied for, 8 software copyrights issued, 46 papers published domestically and internationally, and 1 local standard promulgated. The overall level of these achievements has reached international advanced standards, with some reaching international leading levels, promoting the advancement of soft soil tunnel operation safety early warning technology in China.
