Introduction: Integrating the commonly used single-arm suspension of automotive chassis with a drive motor and a fixed-axis mechanical reducer to form a new type of dual rear wheel reduction independent electric drive axle as shown in Figure 1, which has outstanding advantages such as equivalent unsprung mass being light, high driving/transmission efficiency, good controllability of the chassis, and lower manufacturing cost. The research results of related technical solutions have been applied for three invention patents (one of which has been authorized) and one utility model. Figure 2 shows the structural technical indicators of the integrated independent electric drive axle when it is applied to a trailing arm torsion bar beam semi-independent suspension: The new dual rear wheel reduction independent electric drive axle has comprehensive advantages such as simple structure, equivalent unsprung mass being light, good driving control performance, high driving/transmission efficiency, large available space on the chassis, and lower system cost; through systematic matching design optimization, The equivalent unsprung mass of the deceleration type wheel-side electric drive assembly can be no more than 0.25 kg/kW. It can be widely applied to various types and power levels of electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles, such as microcars, high-performance sedans (sports cars), buses, commercial vehicles, off-road vehicles, etc. Specific power system configurations include a pure electric vehicle with dual rear-wheel reduction independent wheel-side drive; an electric vehicle with dual rear-wheel reduction independent wheel-side drive equipped with a small generator range extender; a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle where the front axle is driven by a traditional engine and the rear axle is driven by a dual rear-wheel reduction independent electric drive; a four-wheel drive electric vehicle where the front axle is centrally driven by a single driving motor and the rear axle is driven by a dual rear-wheel reduction independent electric drive.
