The traditional painting construction process is cumbersome, which prevents the widespread promotion of schemes such as gradual color changes and colorful patterns on rail vehicles. Moreover, the environmental issues associated with paint have not been well resolved. Decorative film coatings, characterized by bright and vivid colors, diverse and lifelike patterns, ease of application, and environmental friendliness, have begun to be gradually promoted and applied on rail vehicles. The decorative films used on rail vehicles are mostly PVC or PE films, typically consisting of a film body, adhesive, and backing paper in three layers. Both types of films have excellent weather resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, and water resistance. This product is a new type of polymer film material for surface decoration and protection of rail vehicles that can replace paints, achieving significant improvements in key performance indicators such as fire retardancy, anti-fouling self-cleaning properties, thermal insulation, damping, antibacterial wear resistance, and low cost with high durability. The film laminating process is divided into two types: rolling and casting. The manufacturing process for rolled films involves mixing solid granular resins, fillers, etc., and then extruding and stretching them to a certain thickness through high-temperature pressing; the casting process involves scraping colloidal components such as resin, plasticizers, solvents, flame retardants, etc., into liquid films, which are then formed into polymer films in a high-temperature oven at 200°C. The products are suitable for the needs of high-speed railways and airport construction, leading to the development of new series of decorative protective film materials for railway equipment and large-scale production, driving the industry of decorative protective film materials for national high-speed railway track vehicles, and meeting the country's increasingly high demands for environmental protection, safety, and appearance of track vehicles. Advantages of film lamination include: 1. Quick installation. According to statistics, using the film laminating process, seven people can complete the installation of 120 train carriages per month, while under the same conditions, the spray painting process can only produce 40 train carriages. 2. Good environmental performance. In the construction process, film application replaces traditional paint primers, primer grinding, midcoat, and midcoat grinding processes with a primer + film application. Since there is no paint or grinding involved, emissions of smoke dust and organic volatiles are almost zero, while the emission of organic volatiles from paint is 550g/L; 3. Diverse styling options. With the film application process, the film itself can be subjected to color spraying or screen printing, among other techniques, making it easy to achieve complex images, gradients, various textures, light storage, and reflective effects.
