Introduction to the Results: The performance optimization of the entire vehicle's powertrain not only involves the structural design of the vehicle and the optimization of the overall engine performance (across the entire operating range), but more importantly, it is about the optimized matching between the power system (engine) and the transmission system (vehicle). In the past, this critical part has often been overlooked in vehicle development: either insufficient attention has been paid to it, or there has been no concurrent development; there was no suitable evaluation system (especially a comprehensive one), where tests and simulation calculations could not be coordinated with design, etc. As a result, the performance of the vehicle's powertrain did not reach its optimal state. This project began in 1996 and after over a decade of research, established an integrated evaluation system for the powertrain. It conducted research on the coordination of simulation calculations (commercial software) with test technology (test benches and methods, national standards, etc.), collected and organized national and corporate standards for powertrain design. A relatively complete, feasible, and practical vehicle powertrain development system has been established, which has completed scientific research projects commissioned by four domestic companies. The 'Comprehensive Evaluation System for Vehicle Powertrains' proposed in this project has been practically validated through collaborative research projects with enterprises, proving its theoretical significance and practical value in improving the overall performance of powertrains. Some of the research achievements of this project, such as 'Construction of a Comprehensive Performance Evaluation System for Vehicle Powertrains, Coordination of Simulation Calculation and Testing, and Application in Vehicle Development,' received the Second Prize for Scientific and Technological Achievements in the Automotive Industry in 2006. Additionally, planned cooperative projects include: product development methods and advanced technologies based on independently developed engine development methods and the design and calculation of key components, engine failure (damage) analysis simulation technology, coordination with testing technologies, and optimization design of engine flow processes (ID, 3D). Integrated development methods and applications for engine simulation calculations and ECU control strategy optimization products, optimization design of the vehicle's thermal management system (vehicle, engine, cooling system components), development of electronically controlled EGR valves and systems, development of the vehicle's engine exhaust assembly, construction of an exhaust assembly test bench, application of testing technology and engines with high dynamic performance tests, coordination with simulation technology, research and application of DOE testing methods, development of online detection systems, supercharging technology, supercharged engines, and optimization of supercharger dynamic performance, development of mechanical scroll supercharging systems, systematic comparison of alternative fuels and alternative drive solutions, R&D and industrialization of emission reduction parts.
