To address the issues of high costs and low efficiency in traditional traffic monitoring using manual labor, this project has developed an Intelligent Traffic Video Surveillance System (ITS) based on digital image processing and pattern recognition technology. By installing cameras along the roadside to collect road surveillance videos, it automatically acquires and records traffic data including traffic flow, vehicle speed, vehicle type, etc., and detects traffic events to provide timely automatic alarms. This intelligent traffic video surveillance system can be widely applied to highways, urban roads, intersections, or tunnels. It automatically records traffic data, detects traffic events, provides information to the traffic management departments, and makes suggestions based on this information for automatic management. Due to the system's automatic alarm function, it can significantly reduce the manpower input of traffic monitoring departments and greatly improve efficiency.
