Product Introduction: This product is mainly used in heat exchangers (such as intercoolers in compressors) and can be applied to key pillar industries of the national economy including energy, power, petroleum, chemical industry, refrigeration, and air conditioning. This achievement is based on the fundamental principles of heat transfer and combines numerical simulation methods for heat transfer and flow to conduct in-depth research on improving the efficiency of heat exchangers. Starting from the mechanism of enhancing heat transfer, a new type of high-efficiency heat transfer tube with a novel structure has been proposed. The proposed heat transfer tube can achieve an increase in heat transfer that is more than the multiple of the increase in resistance when enhancing heat transfer. Advantages of the Achievement: This achievement was appraised by an expert committee organized by the Ministry of Education in December 2004, and the appraisal committee unanimously agreed that the achievement has developed the principles of enhancing heat transfer, made breakthroughs in the design principles and criteria for enhancing heat transfer inside pipes, and has formed a new type of heat exchange technology with complete independent intellectual property rights. The achievement has generally reached the international leading level. Typically, for enhanced heat transfer technology, enhancing heat transfer does not always mean energy saving; the multiple of increased heat transfer is generally less than that of increased resistance. However, due to the novel design of the enhanced heat transfer measures in this product, it achieves a multiple of increased heat transfer greater than that of increased resistance. Compared with conventional tubes, the designed high-efficiency heat exchange tube can achieve a heat transfer capacity of 11 times, 3.5-3.8 times, and 1.75-2.0 times respectively under three comparative conditions: same gas mass flow rate, pump power consumption, and gas pressure drop. Therefore, adopting this new type of enhanced heat transfer tube can save raw materials, improve heat transfer efficiency, reduce the volume of heat exchange equipment, and also significantly lower operating costs. Application prospects: The high-efficiency reinforced tube developed in this project has been successfully applied in the gas coolers of compressors, and its application has successfully saved a large amount of foreign exchange for the country. Due to the rational design and compact structure of the unit, it has been used in many domestic enterprises and operates stably with good performance, making it capable of completely replacing imported products. Currently, in the fields of chemical engineering, power, and petroleum technology in China, there are still units that use imported products. This product can be widely applied. As for the reinforced tube developed in this project, it can also be further promoted for use in other heat exchangers where gas flows within tubes for heat exchange.
