Introduction to the Achievement: The corner tube boiler was invented by German hydrodynamic expert Vorkauf in 1944. Vorkauf designed a boiler with very good water circulation characteristics, and since the downcomers of this boiler are arranged at the corners, they not only serve as water circulation channels but also form part of the boiler support frame, hence the name 'corner tube boiler'. In the early 1990s, China selected the corner tube boiler from numerous industrial boiler products abroad through the GEF project for introduction. However, the technology of corner tube boilers introduced to China did not see widespread promotion. In 2006, a professor proposed an auxiliary drum-assisted all-upflow water circulation structure for corner tube boilers (invention), where all small-diameter water pipes within the entire corner tube water circulation structure are forced to flow upwards; all large-diameter downcomers, headers, and other components within the entire structure are also designed to be upwards flowing. The connecting pipes and other non-heated surfaces are all in horizontal or descending flow, completely eliminating the abnormal hydrodynamic conditions of stagnation or backflow that may occur due to the downward flow of some water wall tubes in conventional natural circulation or forced circulation loop designs. The medium water in the membrane water wall flows entirely upwards, ensuring a high mass flow rate of the medium water, effectively eliminating the risk of tube wall temperature rise and possible bursting due to subcooled boiling. Technical advantages: This technology owns 5 invention patents and 6 utility model patents. The patent group is centered on a unique corner tube water circulation structure, inventing five new technologies including a novel air distribution device, fluidized reburning device, composite equal velocity design method, and comprehensive pollutant removal device. Two of these have been exclusively licensed by Jiangsu Sifang, and the series products have won the Jiangsu Province Excellent New Product Award. Its advancement lies in: achieving safe water circulation, uniform air distribution, Key technological innovations in fly ash combustion, enhanced heat transfer, and synergistic removal of pollutants have been achieved, which not only ensure operational safety but also improve thermal efficiency by more than 8%. This has solved the long-standing operational difficulties of coal-fired industrial boilers, such as poor water circulation reliability leading to easy tube bursting, poor power outage protection safety, low thermal efficiency, and high emissions. The third-party evaluation of this patent group by the China Electrical Industry Association's Industrial Boiler Branch believes that: 'The boiler's thermal efficiency and environmental indicators are superior to the advanced level of similar products, and the overall technology is at the international leading level, leading technological progress in the field of industrial boilers.' Actual operation energy efficiency tests conducted on series products with capacities of 46, 70, and 91 MW by the China Special Equipment Inspection Research Institute show that the thermal efficiency can reach as high as 83.27% to 84.34%. As part of the achievements, this technology was awarded the First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress by the Ministry of Education in 2011 (as the first principal investigator).
