In response to this etiology and pathogenesis, as well as the TCM theory of 'Heart-Kidney Relatedness', the treatment principle of 'benefiting qi, warming yang, activating blood' is proposed, and Shenjinning prescription is created. An invention patent has been applied for, and its clinical efficacy has been verified. At the same time, through AT1-KO gene knockout mice, the mechanism of action is clarified by improving renal function, RASS, and energy metabolism to improve cardiac and renal functions. Project Characteristics: The project has achieved the following innovative results. (1) It was the first to conduct a retrospective epidemiological analysis on the patterns of primary diseases, traditional Chinese medicine syndromes, and concurrent pathogenic factors in patients with chronic renal failure (CRF) cardiovascular disease. It revealed that since CRF cardiovascular complications develop on the basis of chronic renal failure, there is a transformation rule based on CRF in their pathogenesis. Various kidney diseases persist over time without healing, leading to organ decline in the later stages, especially severe depletion of spleen and kidney yang energy. As yang declines, it cannot transform yin, ultimately resulting in a pathological state characterized by weak yang and taut yin, with underlying deficiency and superficial excess. Pathogenic factors such as stasis, dampness, and toxins accelerate and induce the progression of the disease. (2) It was the first to propose the application of the 'heart-kidney related' theory in the treatment of cardiac remodeling in CRF, based on previous epidemiological analyses. The treatment method of 'Yiqi Wenyang Huoxue' was formulated, and the Shenxin Ning prescription was established. Through continuous clinical and experimental research, its composition and compatibility were optimized. (3) It was the first to use AT1-KO gene knockout mice to study the efficacy and mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine in treating cardiac remodeling in chronic renal failure. By blocking the AT1 receptor in the RASS pathway, the mechanism of Shenxin Ning prescription in treating CRF cardiac remodeling was clarified. That is, by improving renal function, RASS, and energy metabolism, it explored the material basis of traditional Chinese medicine's 'treating the heart from the kidney' and 'heart-kidney relatedness' theories. Application and Promotion: This study, as a treatment theory and compound preparation, involves technologies that have been supported by Shanghai Health Bureau projects, Shanghai Education Commission projects, and National Natural Science Foundation in Shuguang Hospital, Longhua Hospital, The application and promotion of Yueyang Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital, Putuo Hospital, Pudong New Area Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, etc. A total of 22 academic papers were published, including 2 SCI papers with 101 citations. Relevant papers were presented at the National TCM Nephrology Annual Meeting and the National Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Nephrology Annual Meeting. One patent was applied for, and 5 master's degree students were trained.
