Build Service Platform for Green Technology and

Boost Regional Sustainable Development

   On May 10, 2019, Green Technology Transfer &Transformation Forum, serving as 2019 annual conference of Chinese Society for Sustainable Development (CSSD), and assub-forum for Sustainable DevelopmentForum, was hosted in Jinan by Administration Center of Green Technology Bank(GTB), under the theme how green technology could better serve for regional development. This event attracted over 300 representatives from administrative sections of pilot zone for sustainable development nation wide, and relevant enterprises, universities, researching institutions. Director Wang Zhen from Administration Center of Green Technology Bank presented and presided over the section of keynote report. Mr. Zhou Hailin, Secretary General of CSSD, Memberof the Secretariat for the Leading Group of GTB, and Director of the Administrative Center for China’s Agenda 21, hosted the ensuing interactionsection. Zhu Junhao, General Manager of Green Technology Bank Sci-tech Development Co. Ltd—GTB’s operating entity, participated in the interaction.

       GreenTechnology Transfer & Transformation Forum consisted of two sections,namely the keynote report and the  interaction. Director Wang Zhen started with an introduction to GTB and its current progress, centering particularly on the exploring practice since officially running in 2017 of “Five Directions” which comprised the classification of green technologies and assessment principles,the construction of public service  platform for green technology, the organization of operating entity, the planning of key exemplary projects, and the activation of international cooperation. Mr. Zhou Jianhao, Standing Director of CSSD and General Manager of Shanghai Guohuan Environmental Scienceand Technology Group Co. Ltd, employed years of his entrepreneurial experiencesto make a call of “the innovative strategies being in urgent need  for green technology transfer and transformation”. Ms. Zhu Mei, Representative of National Pilot Zone for Sustainable Development and Vice-mayor of Lincang, gave a speech on “the demand and current situation of the innovation funds and green industries in local sustainable development”, viewing from a perspective of local government and local planning of green development, which resonated with all participants.

   In the following interaction section, the specially-invited guests discussed and interacted with the participating representatives on green development. Representing local governments, the administration of sci-tech institutions, green technology enterprises, think tanks, and agencies of greentechnology service, the guests led a wonderful discussion ranging from the present problems and bottle necks of green development, the cooperation and coordination among the interested parties, to the understanding and the demands of GTB. As GTB’s operating entity, Green Technology Bank Sci-tech Development Co. Ltd made an active response to the requirements of different parties, much on the landing of its mode of “Sci-tech+ Finance” to boost the transfer and transformation of green technology. Also in this discussion, representatives showed great interest and expectations towards GTB platform,craving to know more about, make a liaison with, and participate in itsconstruction, so as to jointly boost  sustainable development by creating a healthy cooperation mode with the agglomeration of technology, finance, policy and other innovation resources.

   GTB is China’s major measure in response to UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and a vital part in the market-oriented innovative system of green technology. Focusing on the difficulties in green technology transfer and transformation, and on the genuine demand and planning of the local government and enterprises, the sub-forum rendered a deep insight into the problems and bottle necks inpractical operations of the field, thus serving as a good attempt to make a break through in regional sustainable development. CSSD’s leading role in solving the critical theoretical problems was a valuable asset for GTB’s connection and cooperation with the pilot zones for sustainable development. Both sides worked together in aspects of researching and operating at theory and practice level so as to make active and effective attempts for the realization of 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,which facilitated the strategic cooperation of overall planning between GTB and the pilot zones nation wide, and provided great opportunities for the regional green and sustainable development by further integration.
